About the Chorus
We’re a group of some 30+ men who sing four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style both for our own enjoyment and to entertain our audiences. We are the Nassau Mid-Island Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the largest chapter on Long Island, and will soon be celebrating our 71st anniversary.
Our chorus and chapter quartets perform in the community, at hospitals, civic, and charity events and we produce an annual show in the spring to support our activities. We have entertained at Citi Field, Old Westbury Gardens, Coe Hall and even had the great distinction to sing at Carnegie Hall. Several years ago our chorus was honored with a citation from Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi for, “selfless commitment to the community and its residents.” Our repertoire ranges from traditional barbershop to songs from the Great American Songbook to Elton John.
The men in our chorus range in age from young to wiser. Some of our members have been singing with the chorus for more than 40 years, enjoying the camaraderie of the group and the exciting sound of close harmony and ringing chords. We have been privileged to work under the talented and personable leadership of our director Maurice Debar for the last 20 years adding to the fun of rehearsals
We rehearse every Tuesday from 7p to 10P and are always interested in recruiting new members who enjoy singing as much as we do. Contact us to learn more about the chorus or join us at a weekly rehearsal.
